Students with an interest in agriculture can turn their passion into purpose by helping address global challenges such as developing climate-resilient crops and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in livestock production systems. They gain a strong science foundation in areas such as biology and chemistry before developing in-depth knowledge and skills in agronomy, horticulture and/or animal science, with flexibility to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. With an emphasis on creating more sustainable and productive food and fibre systems, students also gain an understanding of sustainable agricultural practices, biosecurity risks, and emerging technologies is also developed throughout the program

Learning is enriched by UQ’s Gatton campus, home to research greenhouses, plant nurseries, a commercial dairy and more than 1,000 hectares of farmland. Students engage in field trips, industry visits, and practical classes, with the option to complete a 120 hour industry placement to gain real world agricultural experience.

Graduates enter a sector with strong job demand, contributing to global food security, agricultural innovation and sustainable land and animal management.
