Discover the rich and complex world of music education by becoming a music teacher. Students will explore how to teach and how people learn, in courses designed specifically for music educators. They will then apply their knowledge in classrooms. Throughout the program students will be immersed in hands-on workshops, school visits and supervised placements, gaining a strong understanding of day-to-day life in a secondary school. Individual lessons in the music program helps students excel in their chosen instrument or voice. To prepare for their teaching career, they will extend their skills across a range of instruments and learn techniques for teaching classroom music and directing music ensembles. Students will graduate a versatile professional, equipped to teach in schools and other educational contexts. Note: This program is suitable for students who wish to become a specialist choral/instrumental teacher and a classroom music teacher. Students who wish to become a classroom teacher of music and second teaching area (such as English or mathematics) should undertake the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) dual program and major.
