International Year 12 Students
QTAC assesses a range of international qualifications to help students apply for tertiary study in Queensland. Whether you’re completing GCE Cambridge A/AS Levels, USA Senior Schooling, or the New Zealand Certificate of Steiner Education (NZCSE), it’s important to provide the right documentation to ensure a smooth application process.
Each qualification has specific requirements for assessment. Below, you’ll find guidance on the documents you may need to submit.
GCE Cambridge A/AS Levels
The General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCEA-Levels) is a widely recognised academic qualification conferred in more than 125 countries.
Students undertaking GCEs (A or AS levels) receive ‘provisional’ results in the first instance. Provisional results for A and AS Levels are accepted for students undertaking in the current year but not for prior study.
QTAC will assess provisional results if the documents provided are recent and up to date. However, if applicants can obtain the final official results, QTAC will only accept the final results, not provisional. Check below for examples of documentation you might need to supply.

GCE Cambridge A/AS Levels
A/AS Levels
A/AS Levels are equivalent to Year 12 in the Australian education system. A Level subjects are 2 year intensive study programs in a single disciple.
- Year 1 completion: AS Levels and receive a grade
- Year 2 completion: A Levels and receive a grade
A/AS Levels can produce a tertiary admissions selection rank and can also meet some universities’ subject requirements. Contact QTAC to learn more.
O Levels
O Levels are qualifications commonly known as GCSE Ordinary Levels and are equivalent to Year 10 in the Australian education system. O Levels can meet subject requirements with some universities but cannot be issued as a tertiary admissions selection rank. Contact QTAC to learn more.
USA Senior Schooling
USA Senior Schooling is not standardised and therefore requires certain documentation in order for applicants to be assessed by QTAC. To assess USA Secondary Qualifications, QTAC requires evidence of high school completion (High School Diploma/Completion Certificate). Evidence of completion is to be accompanied by a copy of students’ AP/SAT/ACT scores. Check below for examples of documentation you might need to supply.

New Zealand Certificate of Steiner Education (NZCSE)
Students wanting to apply via QTAC and use the current Year 12 toggle pathway need to be doing the standard QCE programme. If students are not doing the standard QCE programme or have no recognised study in their Learning Account with the QCAA, QTAC will not receive the information in the QCE candidate file supplied by the QCAA, and students cannot continue along their application journey.
For students studying the NZCSE, when submitting a QTAC Application, toggle on the Customer declaration and agree to the terms and conditions. However, do not opt-in for the optional consent.
It’s important to note that NZCSE students should not activate the toggle for I will complete an Australian Year 12 Secondary qualification in 2025. Just click continue. You can add the NZCSE qualification later in the application steps, where you’ll then be prompted to upload required documentation.
Contact QTAC if you require further assistance on your QTAC Application.
