What is English Language Proficiency?
You must be able to speak, write, read and comprehend English to a certain standard to be accepted into a course offered through QTAC. This is known as English language proficiency. For specific institution requirements, please visit www.qtac.edu.au/english-language-proficiency/
Are there some qualifications that cannot be assessed?
Yes. I meet all of the entry requirements, does that mean I automatically get an offer?
Theres a bit more to it than just being eligible. You’ll also need to compete against other eligible applicants, and your selection will depend on how well you meet the selection criteria for each course.
I’ve done a few different things since leaving school – some study and some work. How am I assessed?
The way your experience is assessed depends on the individual institution’s entry criteria. Some institutions will look at everything you’ve done (including school, even if it was a long time ago) and give each of your qualifications, studies and experience a different weight. Some institutions will focus on just your highest qualification.
Is it easier to get into university if I’m not a current Year 12 student?

What qualifications can be assessed to gain a selection rank?
Secondary Education, VET Qualifications (from a Certificate III or higher), Tertiary Study, Bridging/ Enabling programs, Employment Experience, Defence/ Armed Force Qualifications. *The acceptance of a particular qualification is institution specific and is subject to change.
