Course outline

Understand the human mind to support the mental health of others. Meet the demand for caring professionals to support the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. Backed by interprofessional collaborative teaching and learning-you’ll be ready to help create a healthier future for all. Gain a thorough grounding in clinical, developmental, biological, cognitive, and social and organisational psychology as you work towards a career as a psychologist, as well as other psychology-related fields in the health sector and beyond. Learn how to use interpersonal skills and the principles of counselling to help people with personal, health, vocational and social difficulties. Apply psychological theories to topics such as thinking and perceiving, motivation, stress, health and group behaviour; evaluate and understand tests that measure intellectual, behavioural and emotional states; and use counselling skills, coaching and group facilitation skills. Learn from practising experts undertaking groundbreaking research and study through clinical placements, either at our on-campus clinics, or at one of the many leading healthcare clinics we partner with. Eligible students will progress to a fourth year of study, where they’ll begin formal research training and be introduced to professional psychological practice.
